Michael Rigacci, 67, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017.
He was born on September 25, 1949 to Robert and Bernice Rigacci in Chicago, Illinois. Mike grew up in Chicago and there he attended St. Vincent DePaul Academy, entered the Boy Scouts, where found his love of horses. His first trip to Washington was in 1976. He loved the state so much that in 1977 he took up residence and started Mudville 9 Nursery, as well as Big Wheel Trucking brokerage firm.
Mike was united in marriage to Nancy Harris on March 25, 1990, and became a father in October of 1992.
Michael was an active member of the Laborers Union Local 901 and Sargent of Arms there until he retired in 2012. He was an avid hunter, excellent marksman, and a life time member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors; hunting, camping, hiking Sauk Mountain on occasion, daily walks around Northern State Recreational Area, and even trekking the logging road behind his house. In his and Nancy’s early days, they had horses and often went horseback riding on the Harry Osborne trail or to the backcountry camping. Most often it would be up the log road behind their house as a way to relax after work. As a father, Mike protected his daughter at all costs, spending much of their time together teaching her to defend herself against the evils he had seen in the world. They bonded over trail blazing, camping, shooting, martial arts, and music. Together they trained one German shepherd and one rescued dog before he passed.
Michael is survived by his wife. Nancy Rigacci of Sedro-Woolley; Daughter, Ashley Rigacci of Bellingham; Brother, Peter Rigacci of Mount Vernon, and Cousin, Pete and Nephew, Joaquin Silva of Sedro-Woolley.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Bernice Rigacci; Aunt Emily, Aunt lola and Cousin Gigi.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family residence at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 24746 Happy Trails Lane, Sedro-Woolley. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
