    June V. Whelan passed away at the age of 86 on January 7, 2019, having lost a courageous battle with cancer.  She was in hospice care and died at her home in Sedro-Woolley.  She had a long and happy marriage of 56 years to James M. Whelan who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded by her oldest daughter, Kathryn Noonan. Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Burts, Mary Juchmes, and Carol Whelan; two sons, Michael Whelan and Patrick Whelan; numerous nieces and nephews and many grandchildren.     Dee was born July 29, 1940, in Virginia, Idaho, the second child of Claude and Bertha Cooper.  He spent his childhood in Idaho and Utah.  At the age of 16, Dee joined the Navy.  He served two hitches.  On his second hitch, he served on the Ticonderoga as a photographer. While serving on the dry docked Ticonderoga in Bremerton, he met Georgia Dodeward.  On July 11, 1964 they married.  Dee and Georgia have two daughters, Linda and Laura, and a son when Laura married Dan Kitchings.  They have three wonderful grandchildren, Brianna, Dylan and Sarah of whom he was so proud.
